#TourLife with JMills

JMills (Jermy Mills) aka “Da Connect” has spent a great deal of his music career as a drummer in Florida for different bands and helping to connect people in the music industry. This new venture as a road manager for Cory Henry’s The Revival Tour helped him to learn a lot about himself. When we had the opportunity to sit down with JMills. He was just finishing up his final show of the tour. They started on the road February 29th driving from east coast Brooklyn all the way to the west coast ending in San Diego. 27 days, 23 shows, 13 states & 1 country later. On the tour, it became a running joke that JMills knew EVERYBODY. When people from his past would find time to put JMills in their schedule when he was in their city at first, he thought maybe it was just a random coincidence in one or two cities. Then he started to realize two weeks into the tour things with him weren’t "random." He began to feel that God ordained everything and in his timing. It was finally starting to make sense why they call him "Da Connect," which by the way someone gave him that name, but it became who he was natural. In every city they went on the tour, he knew someone that came out to the show, help with issues on the road, or recommended things to do while they were in town. In his words [I know people everywhere, but it's a great feeling when you can go to different states and see your people. These people were special to me and represented different periods in my life. Road life isn't easy, but moments like this makes it worthwhile.]

When we asked him what advice he has for people that want to get into music and maybe afraid of stepping out and pursuing their passion. JMills said that he recent read a great quote that reignited his fire that he felt would answer that question. Here’s the quote:

“It's so easy to give up!

It's so easy to let the ridicule and rejection get to you and break your spirit and kill your dreams.

It's so easy to let the opinion of others, and their judgments of you get in the way of what you

believe in your heart is your destiny.

It's so easy to hold onto that paycheck because you're afraid that if you step out, you'll just be another failure who couldn't get their idea off the ground.

It's so easy just to doubt yourself and tell yourself that you're not good enough and that you don't have what it takes to be successful.

It's so easy to look around at your current situation and circumstances and just feel helpless and feel you're never going to get out of your own personal hell.

It's so easy to think everyone else is better looking, more talented and has the connections and money to do what they want and you'll never be able to mix it with the best no matter how hard you try.

It's so easy to be scared of putting yourself out there and sharing your unique story with the world when you feel you have no credibility or experience to do what you love!

It's so easy not to follow your heart, and that's why I do what I do every single day because if I can just help one person believe in their dreams and encourage them just to keep going.......I know in my heart of hearts I've done what I was born to do!

It takes a strong person to follow their heart and to live their dreams, and we all have a duty to encourage others on their journey!

So, I guess that we can come to the conclusion that JMills not only helps mode the connections with music but people in general. If you believe in yourself, your passion, don’t give up and continue to help people along the way you will find yourself going through the tour of your life with smiles and no regrets like JMills too.
