What is dating like as a Millennial this Summer?

Outlandish is a great and incredibly funny new web series created by Ariel Julia Hairston on YouTube. The show follows Cami (Kiah Clingman), Nina (Camila Florez), and Summer (Jordan Sherley), three besties trying to navigate their relationships while dealing with their regular day-to-day lives as millennials in a booming Atlanta. The very diverse cast of ladies has amazing onscreen chemistry. Each character is layered. All the women have their own unique viewpoint and relationship type which is one of the biggest strengths of the show. They all have

their own distinct set of relationship troubles which influences the way they attempt to help each other through them. The trio also has subsets in their relationships that present its own intricate dynamics. It’s fun for the audience to watch as those dynamics are discovered. The writer is really good at bringing out the gray in every situation. The material is really good at presenting both points of view for almost every interaction between the leads and their romantic interests. As you continue to watch, the episodes continue to give a bigger picture. There are great moments between the ladies where we get to see how they lift each other up and support each other when it really matters. Hairston even creates moments to explore some of the more serious issues that can plague millennials in this new social media era. The most important element of the series is the outright hilarity. Only four episodes in, I’ve seen so many incredibly awkward and hilarious moments thus far. You will laugh non-stop. The show does such a great job at putting the characters in such precarious positions in which the actors always dive head-first unabashedly into the humor. The actors are so good at being animated and over the top yet realistically and believable. Summer with her hilarious expressions that she can’t help but have written all over her face. Nina with her off the wall seemingly random sayings and physical comedy. And Cami with her sassy one-liners. This show is an absolute 10 out of 10 that will either be the web series that makes you start watching web series’ or help you find you’re new number one.
