Jessica Larche: The Bright Brilliant Broadcasting Beauty

A New Orleans native, Jessica Larche has been reporting since she was ten years old. So long before is was Emmy award-winning anchor/reporter that joined WTKR News Channel 3 team over five years ago she had that desire to tell the story of the people. Jessica was able to hone in our broadcasting abilities at HBCU Florida A&M University school of journalism. There she became the News Director of Tallahassee’s 90.5 radio station, Jessica’s documentaries on Hurricane Katrina and the death of Martin Lee Anderson won several William Randolph Hearst Awards. Jessica also made history at FAMU as the first anchor of the FAMU News 20 at Five live newscasts in the fall of 2007. After graduated summa cum laude, she went on to spent nearly three years covering breaking news and investigating law enforcement and government in Jackson, Mississippi. The Mississippi Associated Press recognized Jessica's groundbreaking investigations and her special reports. She expressed to us in her phone interview what a spiritual, physical, and emotional transition Virginia was for her in ways she only imagined. From finding a great church home, losing over 100 pounds, and meeting her fiancé.

Jessica takes the time to talk to us about her incredible weight loss (release) in the last five years and how that transformation has been for her along the way. Since she started that journey, she enjoys volunteering in the community as an ambassador for the Hampton Roads

chapter of the

American Heart

Association and teach Latinos and Black in the community the importance of making lifestyle changes with their eating to create a healthier life.

Jessica even takes the time out to talk to us about her relationship with her fiancé Sean a fellow HBCU graduate attended Hampton University. She tells us how they are each other’s biggest supporter/cheerleader holding each other accountable and how hey have a lot of fun together. They complement each other in the things that they share a common interest. One of the things I found interesting is how she said that she, “Prayed to have her husband as her best friend before they even met and now she feels like God had done that prayer above and below for her.” They are so grateful to experience this level of love for each other. They hope that their children that they have one day will also want to attend an HBCU so they can receive that same great well-rounded experience, support, and love they received in that environment.

When did we ask her what advice she has for young people that would like to get into television and news?

She gave these helpful tips:

Go to school where you are going to get that real like experience to be successful when you graduate.

Be persistence and don’t give up. Don’t get discouraged. It doesn’t matter if you get a million no’s all you need is that one yes!

Be okay with starting small. You may not make a lot of money starting out, but you have to make sacrifices sometimes to get your foot in the door. Then once you have a following and the experience you need it grounds you, makes you very humble, and appreciative of other opportunities that come your way.

We hope this spotlight on the brilliant, beauty in broadcasting gave you a better look at who Jessica is as a person.
